DWIH San Francisco will be supporting a workshop with the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel as it works to further its partnership with the University of California, San Francisco on the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Express Link.

The “AI Exchange” project between the Intelligent Imaging Lab at the Christian-Albrechts Universität in Kiel and the Center for Intelligent Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco uses federated learning technology, which protects sensitive data in particular, such as X-ray images.

The AI networks at both locations will initially be trained independently at each site as they gain practical experience. These are sent to a central server at Kiel University and merged, which results in a joint new network that is more experienced than the individual ones. This is then sent back again and again to the local training sites until it is optimally trained.

The conference will be held October 3 – 5, from 10 am to 5 pm, at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Cancer Research Building (1450 3rd St.) Bakar Auditorium (HD-160), and attendees are also welcome to attend on Zoom.
