Science Communication – Changes in the Relationship between Science and Society

Open access, integrity in research, and best practices for communication were among the array of topics discussed at the Symposium on Science Communication, which took place on Friday, September 15th at the University of California, Berkeley. Moderated by Julia Schaletzky, Executive Director of the Harry Wheeler Center for Emerging & Neglected Diseases (CEND) at UC Berkeley, the symposium began with a keynote by Nobel laureate Randy Schekman (Medicine, 2013). Consul General Oliver Schramm also greeted attendees, highlighting the importance of science communication for the development of our society.

New Partnership Between DWIH San Francisco and BSI

The DWIH San Francisco is delighted to announce that the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), an agency of the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), has joined our network of supporters. We held a ceremony on Friday, September 8th at the residence of the German Consul General Oliver Schramm to mark the start of many fruitful years of cooperation in the Bay Area.

Last week, DWIH San Francisco had a shared stand with the German Research Foundation (DFG) and participated at the 2023 American Chemical Society Fall Meeting in San Francisco. Nearly 15,000 people from all over the world registered for the conference.
